Mass of Installation - Fr. Hanley

From the desk of Fr. Tim...

I wish to thank everyone for their warm welcome to me over these past weeks and I look forward to continuing to get to know each of you in the coming weeks and months. I look forward to building upon the good work done by Monsignor Zimmer here over these last 17 years and am also anticipating planning with you the celebration of Monsignor’s 50th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination here in May 2027.

I would like to invite each of you to mark your calendars for Sunday September 15 at 11:30 a.m. and attend my Installation Mass as the pastor of St. Clement Parish.  We will welcome Bishop Ivan Camillieri, Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto, as presider and homilist.  A Reception will follow in the Parish Hall.  I quote from the Introduction to the Ceremony:

The priest who is promoted to exercise the pastoral care of a parish obtains this care and is bound to exercise it from the moment he takes possession.  The liturgical part of taking possession has significance in the life of a parish.  It draws the attention of the faithful to the various aspects of sacramental life and to the tasks of the Pastor as teacher, sanctifier as well as governor.  Not only is the Letter of Appointment read and the Profession of Faith recited, but also the Pastor is taken in solemn procession around the church to the places which will be hallowed by his ministry.  Through it the faithful see the installation of their own shepherd who is the co-worker with the order of bishops under the authority of the diocesan Archbishop.  Pastors re obliged to see to it that the Word of God in its entirety is announced and that the faithful are nourished through a devout celebration of the sacraments so that the Most Holy Eucharist is the centre of the parish community.

Finally, I wish to thank Deacon Milan, Sr. Christina and Leslie for their great assistance to me during this time of transition.  I also wish to announce the hiring of Daniela Vidala as our new Accountant and Facilities Manager and thank Elizabeth Yeung her assistance to Daniela and me over these last few months.
