Humanitarian Relief Aid

 

Two significant natural disasters in recent days have resulted in tremendous loss of life, widespread destruction and the displacement of thousands of people in both Nepal and Colombia.

On August 26, catastrophic flash flooding and mudslides struck Nepal following a massive glacial and rock collapse near the Nepal-China border. More than 1000 people have died and thousands remain missing as search, rescue and relief efforts continue.

Earlier this month, on August 10, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, with its epicentre near San José del Palmar. More than 330 people have died, thousands have been injured and hundreds of thousands of people have been affected. Homes, schools, health facilities and other essential infrastructure have sustained significant damage.

The Archdiocese of Toronto will accept donations for humanitarian relief efforts in Nepal and Colombia and will channel funds through trusted Catholic partners responding to the emergencies and assisting affected communities. You can donate online or through the parish, making cheques payable to:
