On Sunday, March 8, St. Patrick’s Parish in Schomberg, Ont., joyfully celebrated its 150th anniversary with a special Mass celebrated by His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo.

The celebration brought together past priests Fr. Bill Swift, Fr. Paul Hancko, Fr. Ignacio Pinedo, Fr. Arthur from the Heralds of the Gospel, Deacon Don McMillan and Deacon Milan Popik with parishioners who have faithfully served the community over the years to mark this remarkable milestone in the life of the parish. The Cardinal was warmly received by members of the Knights of Columbus, St. Patrick's and St. Mary's, the Women’s Auxiliary and the Catholic Women’s League of the parish's mission church, St. Mary's – creating a beautiful moment of unity and gratitude for generations of faith.

During his homily, Cardinal Leo spoke about the importance of faith, family, and community. He encouraged all present to continue caring for the sick and the elderly and reminded us of our calling to be good stewards of Jesus’ love in our daily lives. His message resonated deeply with parishioners – inspiring reflection and gratitude for the strong foundation of faith that has guided St. Patrick's Parish for 150 years.

Following the Mass, the Cardinal graciously joined parishioners for refreshments, taking time to speak with many members of the community. His presence and kindness were deeply appreciated by all who attended. The parish community is profoundly grateful for his leadership and for the love and faith shared on this historic and joyful occasion.
