St. Felix Centre - Care Compassion Community

The frost has arrived, and the snow will be here soon! It can be a pretty sight from inside a warm home, but many people in our city are not as lucky. In most cases this is the hardest time of the year for them, as they try to find a warm and safe space to seek shelter from the winter hard conditions, literally looking for a way to save their lives … St. Felix Centre is here for them, but they need you too.

The last 18 months have been very challenging for our organization, having to incur many unexpected expenses to keep people safe and to adapt our programs to the ever-evolving situation due to covid-19. We are committed to continue working hard to support them, but this won’t be possible without you.

When everyone was inside, people with no place to call home became visible to everyone, and the suffering and challenges they face were apparent to all. Now everyone’s eyes are fully open to the sad reality of homelessness in the City, and as a community, we have a chance to make a difference. Do you want to be part of changing lives?

Please make a donation today to St. Felix Centre’s Lighting the Way campaign and celebrate the holidays by sharing your compassion and support with your neighbours in need. Neighbours like MJ, who is one of our former guests who secured housing earlier this year with the strong support of our team. Let us tell you more about him:

Meet MJ - Picture of Man

Trying times were no stranger to MJ, as he had an extremely difficult childhood. However, MJ became a very talented artist and worked as a successful stonemason for decades. Due to challenging circumstances, things changed for MJ and he ended up spending a lot of time in precarious housing. One day, he found himself experiencing homelessness, including enduring the brutal Toronto winters in only a sleeping bag. Despite everything he had been through, he remained hopeful.

A friend eventually told him about St. Felix Centre and he began accessing our services for support. He stayed with us for approximately a year, and with the support of our team he worked on some of his challenges and is now housed. He is proud of all he has overcome and for that, he is loved by many in our community. He will observe the snow now from the other side of the window, warm and safe.

People like MJ need your help. Please donate today towards our Lighting the Way campaign and give this holiday season another reason to celebrate: You, your family and friends literally saving lives, like MJ’s, through your donations.

Happy Holidays to you.

Gratefully,
The St. Felix Team
